The Journey of 1000 Calories

The Journey of 1000 Calories

I’d like to tell you a little tale of two different 1000 calorie journeys. One will take you down the path of weight loss and feeling great,and the other will take you down the slippery slope to sluggishness, obesity and “ugh.”

SCENE 1:
I opened my eyes on this beautiful day. Whew! What a great night’s sleep. I got up, drank a big glass of water and went down for some coffee, showered and started my day. In the kitchen I fried two organic brown eggs, with a dash of pepper, placed on 1 slice of Dave’s Killer Thin bread with 2 Tbsp. of fresh avacado. (490 cal.) It was delicious and gave me the fuel I needed to start my engine for the morning. (AKA: my metabolism!)  That was around 7:30 a.m.

Whew!  Busy morning. It’s around 10:30 a.m. and  I can feel my body nudging me for some more fuel.  I grab a quick snack of 15 roasted unsalted cashews and a cup of organic red grapes (125 cal.) Mmmm, light and refreshing!  Ready to keep going.

About 12:30 p.m. my body is telling me “Feed Me Seymour” and I make myself a quick salad; 3/4 cup of sliced filet mignon (leftover) on 1.5 cups of mixed greens with a sprinkle of feta cheese and a drizzle of balsamic dressing. (575 cal.) Perfect. Onward for some errands!

It’s 3:30 p.m. and I am starting to yawn. Hey, I know what that means. My blood sugar is probably dropping so I need to refuel! I eat a few bites (1/2) of cucumber with some spicy quinoa dip and all good. (60 cal.) I start to think about preparing dinner so we can eat no later than 6 p.m.  So far, I’ve had about 5 bottles of water and feel well hydrated.

For dinner at 5:30 p.m. 1 cup of zucchini noodles with a 3/4 cup of cut up grilled chicken, a pinch of high quality Italian cheese and a few Tbsp. of organic tomato sauce. (340 cal.) It’s the perfect amount to simply SATE my tummy and not overstuff to send my body into crazy land (over eating) Yummo! It’s a quick, delicious, hot meal that I can easily digest and send my body into fat burn/fasting mode! I feel fabulous. Drank a few more bottles of water.

Got a walk in after dinner and to bed about 10 p.m.  My tummy was a little rumbly, but manageable. By eating an light early dinner I put my body into fat burn/fasting zone a couple hours BEFORE my head hit the pillow. (important!) I always wake up feeling rested and healthy.

This day totaled 1,590 calories.  I fed my body all day long with some really great stuff! I was not over-full after meals and had plenty of energy throughout my day.  Remember eating after 6 pm would not give my body time to burn off my last meal and would simply halt this process. The rest would simply be stored as fat. No thanks!

SCENE 2
Ugh. Slept horribly. I think I ate too much, too late yesterday and I am sure I didn’t need that other glass of wine.

Man, am I HUNGRY! It’s 8 a.m. No time, but a bagel with cream cheese sounds like it might help. (450 cal.)

Wow, it’s only 9:30 a.m. and I am starving again.  Hmmm, I wonder what’s in the lunchroom… Brownies! Perfect! Whew… that saved the day and hit the spot. (240 cal.)

It’s lunchtime, 12 p.m. and I am heading to lunch with a friend.  A cheeseburger sounds good, but I should have the salad. Cheeseburger wins out, oh… and so did the fries that came with it. For some reason I am STARVING today!  Stuffed afterwards, but that should keep me until dinner. Oh, and I had a diet coke with lunch.  (1200 cal.)

3 p.m. Kind of feeling tired and sluggish. I thought I saw a granola bar in the lunch room.  Grabbing that as I am tired and need a pick me up and it’s the healthiest thing I could find, but it also had chocolate chips.  Alright, alright… I grabbed another brownie, so sue me. (340 cal)

7 p.m. Whew, what a day. I am tired and just want to put my feet up and watch my television shows. Dinner is at 7:30 p.m. I eat a thick pork chop, some rice, and broccoli, with 2 glasses of red wine. (1,030 cal.)  Tummy stuffed.

After dinner about 9 p.m. I grazed a bit in the kitchen… a handful of chips and some pretzels. (670 cal.)

Went to bed still full around 11 p.m. This day, was a whopping 3,260 calories. I packed it with starches, sugars, chemicals and unhealthy fats.  Geez, no wonder I feel stuffy, bloated and tired the next day and can’t lose weight!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two completely different days. Two completely different feeling bodies, minds, spirits.
Three things are going to happen if you stay with the Scene 1 track. First, your energy will sky rocket. Say hello to your metabolism. Also — your body NEEDS quality nutrients which you get when you consume REAL foods.
Second, you will SLEEP better and feel rested.
Lastly, your body will acclimate to eating this way. It’ll start to DEMAND it!  (Pssst: This means it will get easier to adjust to quality foods, correct portions and correct timing).
Guess what comes after that?
Results!  Awesome, mind-blowing, giggling, screaming, happy dance RESULTS!  You want to lose the fat, belly, and all the jiggle? Want to feel leaner and just plain old better?
You just need to do Scene 1 consistently for however long it takes. It could be three months, it could be twelve. Whatever your goals, you need consistency and a strong determination to get your health and body back!
I am all for a great burger. I will however skip french fries and either have nothing with it or some fruit on the side. I will also only eat half. Why half? Because I would be so uncomfortably FULL if I ate all of it as my body has acclimated to smaller portions which has lead me to keep my weight off for twenty some years.
It’s possible. I promise. This “mission” is entirely FITPOSSIBLE! It’s been done over and over in my studio and you can too.
This is the single most important thing to do to LOSE FAT and gain TRUE HEALTH: EAT CORRECTLY.
I can and will help you with this part. I make it simple. (Now, I didn’t say easy, as nothing worth having and holding onto ever is right?!)
Envision how you want to look!  Envision how you want to feel! Go deep and get R A D I C A L L Y honest with yourself about what you are eating, your physical activity, your self-talk, and what you are willing to do to CHANGE IT.  (I’ll help you with all of that as well)  Now tell me about it!  I want to know. I want to help you.
Don’t think it can happen to you?  Go check out my Google reviews. Go check out my Full-Body Fitness Facebook page.
I get that we are inundated as a society on what is the right way to do this. But enough is enough.  Stop listening and start doing.
Don’t waste another minute spinning your wheels.  It’s time for the rubber to hit the road.
We’re busy DOING IT HERE!  Are YOU ready?  Let’s go!
Hugs and blue skies,
Cindy 😀
